WE ARE VERY EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THAT CARRERA QUINTA “BIG BAND” HAS BEEN NOMINATED FOR A 2016 LATIN GRAMMY, IN THE CATEGORIE OF LATIN JAZZ ALBUM!!!

Colombian jazz project, Carrera Quinta, has has been nominated for a Latin Grammy, in the categorie of latin Jazz album. The band was established as a sextet in 2006 by Colombian composers Javier Perez Sandoval and Francy Montalvo, specifically designed to perform a blend of contemporary jazz with traditional Colombian music from the Andean Region.

Carrera Quinta´s Big Band album is available on iTunes, CD Baby and Amazon. 

Carrera Quinta´s album features compositions awarded in 2013 by Bogota’s department of Arts, Idartes, and one piece commissioned by Bogotá’s Jazz Festival, Jazz al Parque, in 2014. . The album was financed with an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign. The mixing was made in Bogota, Colombia and the mastering in sterling Sound studios in NYC by Randy Merrill. Most of the music featured on the album was composed between 2012 and 2013 in Louisville, KY, where Javier Pérez Sandoval persued his graduate studies in jazz composition with big band arranging legend John La Barbera at University of Louisville School of Music.
